Recenzije:

The catalogue of the exhibition THEN: ETR Revisited 2016–2026, held from 16 January to 22 January 2026 within the Laboratory for Architectural Design (Room 304F) of the Department of Architecture and Urbanism at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, presents a thoughtful and visually compelling analysis of the relationship between material and light, in which onyx, as a translucent stone, acquires a new interpretation through contemporary lighting design. The first part of the catalogue focuses on the materiality of onyx, presenting its diverse textures, layered structure, and structural variations, with light emerging as a key element in revealing its aesthetic and tactile dimensions.

Within the exhibition, extensive graphic documentation is presented, including photographs of the onyx material itself, through which its optical and spatial characteristics are explored. The photographs function not only as documentary records but also as analytical instruments that enable a deeper understanding of the material’s potential within the context of lighting design. Through carefully composed visual sequences, the catalogue successfully highlights the transformative power of light and its influence on the perception of stone.

In this way, the catalogue transcends the boundaries of conventional material presentation and becomes a platform for exploring the relationship between natural matter and contemporary design interpretations, emphasizing the experimental and conceptual potential of onyx in contemporary lighting design.

A significant part of the catalogue of the exhibition THEN: ETR Revisited 2016–2026 is devoted to the application of onyx lighting fixtures in specific spatial contexts, through the presentation of a realized interior—an exhibition space and workshop—in which the lamps are integrated into a comprehensive spatial concept. This segment of the catalogue clearly demonstrates how luminous objects function not only as autonomous design artefacts but also as active carriers of the ambient identity of space.

The graphic documentation, which includes photographs of the interiors and the spaces in which the lamps are situated, enables an understanding of their role in shaping atmosphere, spatial hierarchy, and visual coherence of the environment. Particularly significant is the presentation of the realized exhibition of lighting fixtures within a luxury furniture showroom, where a subtle dialogue is established between luminous objects and the refined interior.

The catalogue convincingly connects the research, design, and implementation aspects of the work, pointing to the interdependence of material, light, and space. As a whole, the publication functions as a coherent visual and conceptual narrative on the integration of design objects into contemporary interiors, emphasizing the aesthetic, spatial, and experimental value of onyx in contemporary architectural practice.
