Recenzije:
The catalogue of the exhibition NOW: ETR Revisited, held from 23 January to 30 January 2026 within the Laboratory for Architectural Design (Room 304F) of the Department of Architecture and Urbanism at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, presents a comprehensive and analytically structured overview of contemporary lighting design using translucent onyx.
The first part of the catalogue focuses on the typology and design logic of the realized luminous objects, through which the relationship between material, form, and light is explored.
Four types of realized lighting fixtures are presented, with artistic, functional, and technical aspects of design carefully integrated. Of particular value is the graphic documentation presented within the exhibition, which includes photographs of the lamps in various environments, as well as technical representations—dimensions and schematic drawings—that provide clear insight into the construction and design concept of each object. Photographs of spaces and materials further contribute to the understanding of the optical and spatial effects of onyx in interaction with light.
It is especially significant that different types of floor and table lamps are included, establishing typological diversity and continuity in the design research. In this way, the catalogue transcends the level of mere presentation of design objects and becomes a platform for the systematic exploration of the potential of onyx as a material in contemporary lighting design.
Dejan Ecet, PhD, associate professor, architect, Faculty of Technical sciences, University of Novi Sad, Serbia.
The focus of the exhibition NOW: ETR Revisited is on the application of lighting fixtures in realized interiors, where the lamps function as key elements of spatial identity and the ambient character of space. Through a carefully curated presentation of graphic documentation, which includes photographs of interiors and the spaces in which the lamps are situated, the catalogue enables an understanding of their role in shaping atmosphere and spatial coherence.
The presentation of the studio interior, used as the RBMB apartment, highlights the possibilities of integrating design objects into compact and multifunctional spaces, where luminous elements become carriers of spatial identification. At the same time, the interior of a holiday house on the Sava River opens a different context, in which onyx lighting fixtures are connected with the natural environment and the specific atmosphere of the setting.
The catalogue successfully links product design and architectural space, pointing to the interdependence of material, light, and function. As a whole, the publication functions as a coherent documentation and interpretation of a contemporary approach to lighting design, emphasizing the aesthetic, spatial, and experimental potential of onyx in contemporary interior practices.
Igor Maraš, PhD, professor, architect, Faculty of Technical sciences, University of Novi Sad, Serbia.
